Softball Recap: Southlake Carroll Has No Trouble Against Shadow Creek

Southlake Carroll posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024 on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 15-1 margin over the Shadow Creek Sharks. That's more bragging rights for the Dragons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Olivia Wiske looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Sammy Petkus was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Emmy May, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Southlake Carroll and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Shadow Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Southlake Carroll will take on Tidehaven in a tournament on Thursday. As for Shadow Creek, they will head out to challenge Alvin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
