Football Game Preview: Vardaman Rams vs. Thrasher Rebels

Vardaman is a perfect 5-0 against Thrasher since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rams will host the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Vardaman is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Water Valley on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Rams took a blow against the Blue Devils, falling 41-8. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.

Despite the defeat, Vardaman saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kinlynn McGreger picked up 103 receiving yards and one TD. McGreger showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 53 yards.

Meanwhile, Thrasher had to suffer through a 56-16 loss at the hands of Byers.

This is the second loss in a row for Vardaman and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Thrasher, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Vardaman took their win against Thrasher in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 42-20 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
