Basketball Recap: El Capitan/Centennial Academy vs. Williams Vikings

El Capitan/Centennial Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They came out on top against Williams by a score of 56-44. That's two games straight that El Capitan/Centennial Academy has won by exactly 12 points.

It was another big night for Monte Hammon, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hammon, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Williams lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nickoli Cody. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with three steals. Cody hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was JP Echeverria, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

El Capitan/Centennial Academy's victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Williams, their loss dropped their record down to 20-11.

El Capitan/Centennial Academy will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Lobos at 7:00 p.m. As for Williams, they will head out on the road to square off against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gregory School will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.
