Baseball Game Preview: Molalla Indians vs. Stayton Eagles

The Molalla Indians will venture away from home to take on the Stayton Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stayton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Molalla, who comes in off a win.

Molalla is headed out to face Stayton after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Molalla came out on top against Newport by a score of 11-7 on Wednesday.

Molalla got a great performance from Kyler Dickerson as he struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance gave Dickerson a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Molalla saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camdyn Morey, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave Morey a new career-high. Mason Mead was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Stayton suffered their closest defeat since April 10, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Valley Catholic by a score of 3-1.

Molalla might still be hurting after the 12-5 loss they got from Stayton in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. Can Molalla avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
