Preview: North Fork Miners vs. Strasburg Indians
The North Fork Miners will head out on the road to face off against the Strasburg Indians at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Two weeks ago, North Fork lost to Gunnison on the road by a decisive 35-21 margin. North Fork has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lane Allen put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Allen was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Moreno, who rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Strasburg had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 54.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 47-8 win over Platte Canyon. The result was nothing new for Strasburg, who have now won six contests by 39 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Landen Martin, who rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Strasburg also got a significant boost from Thomas Devlin, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.
Gunnison's win bumped their season record to 8-1 while North Fork's defeat dropped theirs to 5-3.
