Softball Recap: Metea Valley Finds Home Field Redemption Against Batavia

There's no place like home for Metea Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They never let the Batavia Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory on Monday. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Charlie Benesh made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Grace Feeley was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Wipff, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Metea Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Metea Valley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Batavia, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Metea Valley will square off against Glenbard North at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Batavia, they will be playing at home against Plainfield East at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
