Softball Game Preview: Union County Patriots vs. South Dearborn Knights

The Union County Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the South Dearborn Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Union County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Union County not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 17-4). They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Cowan.

Meanwhile, South Dearborn came into Wednesday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against South Ripley by a score of 6-1 on Wednesday.

Union County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for South Dearborn, their record now sits at 2-6.

Union County might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from South Dearborn in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
