After two games on the road, Cathedral Academy is heading back home. They will take on the Porter-Gaud Cyclones at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Porter-Gaud took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cathedral Academy, who comes in off a win.
Cathedral Academy put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They blew past St. John's Christian Academy 45-17 on the road. Given Cathedral Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while St. John's Christian Academy is ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cathedral Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jalyn Almeida led the charge by scoring 14 points. Another player making a difference was Claire Griffin, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Porter-Gaud had to settle for a 42-39 defeat against First Baptist School on Friday.
Cathedral Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Porter-Gaud, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9.
