Baseball Game Preview: Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves vs. Peninsula Panthers

The Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Peninsula Panthers at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Wiseburn- Da Vinci will be strutting in after a win while Peninsula will be coming in after a defeat.

Wiseburn- Da Vinci proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 11) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Segerstrom, sneaking past 3-2.

David Holliday and Thomas Carpenter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Holliday tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Carpenter pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At the plate, Holliday got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Carpenter went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Holliday is becoming a predictor of Wiseburn- Da Vinci's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 5-9 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lonnie Jackson, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Wiseburn- Da Vinci: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-9 otherwise.

Peninsula couldn't beat California two weeks ago even though they stacked six runs on them in the seventh inning. The Panthers fell just short of the Condors by a score of 8-7.

Wiseburn- Da Vinci is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Peninsula, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Wiseburn- Da Vinci was able to grind out a solid win over Peninsula in their previous matchup back in March, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
