Basketball Game Preview: Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons vs. Axtell Wildcats

Wilcox-Hildreth is on a three-game streak of home losses, Axtell a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons will welcome the Axtell Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.

Last Saturday, Wilcox-Hildreth came up short against Ansley/Litchfield and fell 48-39.

Wilcox-Hildreth's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaleb Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds, and Micah Johnson, who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Kaleb a new career-high in boards.

Meanwhile, Axtell came into Tuesday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Arapahoe on Tuesday as Axtell made off with a 51-29 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted since December 14, 2024.

Wilcox-Hildreth's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Axtell, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10.

Wilcox-Hildreth might still be hurting after the 69-47 defeat they got from Axtell when the teams last played back in January of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wilcox-Hildreth was down 41-21.
