Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Catholic Trojans vs. Pierce Bluejays

Cedar Catholic strolled past Wynot with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 52-34. That 18 point margin sets a new team best for the Trojans this season.

Cedar Catholic can attribute much of their success to Lauren Bernecker, who posted 16 points and six boards, and Anisten Wortmann, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Bernecker has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Arens, who earned nine points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Pierce was able to grind out a solid victory over Archangels Catholic on Thursday, taking the game 39-26. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bluejays.

Pierce's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.8 points per game. As for Cedar Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
