Basketball Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

Marshall lost a heartbreaker to Moberly when they met back in February of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Monday. The Marshall Owls fell 65-55 to the Moberly Spartans. The Owls haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Marshall lost, don't look at Chase Thompson. Despite the final result, he to rack up 25 points. Those 25 points gave Thompson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Pomerenke, who posted eight points and three steals.

Cameron Doubrava was a one-man wrecking crew for Moberly as he en route to 24 points and three steals. Doubrava has become a key player for Moberly: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 9-10 otherwise. Kish Jacobs was another key player, on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Marshall's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Moberly, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-11.

Marshall has already played their next matchup, a 73-67 defeat against Warrensburg on the 21st. As for Moberly, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-37 loss against Mexico on the 21st.
