Logan faced Independence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Wildcats won by a  run and slipped past the Patriots  6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
 Myleigh Adkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than eight  strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Ashlin Brumfield, who  went 1-for-3 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.  Lena Setser also deserves some recognition as  she  hit her first  triple of the season.
Logan's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Independence, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-5 record  this season.
 Logan wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  contest,  a  16-7  victory against Chapmanville Regional on the 15th. As for Independence, they have also already played their next game,  a  10-0  win against Ripley on the 15th.
