Recap: Grand Canyon Phantoms vs. El Capitan/Centennial Academy
The Grand Canyon Phantoms suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 55-28 loss at the hands of El Capitan/Centennial Academy. Grand Canyon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Grand Canyon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaemie Jensen, who scored ten points along with six steals and three blocks. Jensen is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Grand Canyon has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for El Capitan/Centennial Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Grand Canyon will head out on the road to face off against Greyhills Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greyhills Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for El Capitan/Centennial Academy, they will be playing at home against Fredonia at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fredonia's defense has only allowed 26.4 points per game this season, so El Capitan/Centennial Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
