Basketball Recap: Jaylee Nance's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Aletheia Christian Academy over Gulf Pointe Latin

If Aletheia Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 55-16 takedown of Varsity Opponent last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The matchup between the Aletheia Christian Academy Lions and the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators didn't end well, with the Aletheia Christian Academy Lions falling 57-39. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 31-19 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Aletheia Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylee Nance, who posted 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Davis, who put up 11 points and four steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gulf Pointe Latin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rebekah Thompson, who had 19 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. The contest was Thompson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bethany Crumpler, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points along with six steals and five boards.

Aletheia Christian Academy dropped their record down to 6-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Aletheia Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lighthouse Baptist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Aletheia Christian Academy is facing Lighthouse Baptist Academy at the right time seeing as Lighthouse Baptist Academy is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, they and South Baldwin Christian Academy will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
