Softball Game Preview: Perrydale Pirates vs. St. Paul Buckaroos

The Perrydale Pirates will challenge the St. Paul Buckaroos at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Perrydale has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Perrydale couldn't beat Kennedy on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Pirates lost 13-6 to the Trojans. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Isabelle Arthur was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and 11 unearned) runs off 11 hits. Arthur was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Arthur wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lily Eichler, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, St. Paul never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against Western Christian as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Buckaroos, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

St. Paul is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Perrydale, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Perrydale was able to grind out a solid win over St. Paul in their previous meeting back in April, winning 11-7. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Buckaroos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
