Basketball Recap: James River Finds Playoff Glory Versus Chatham

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only James River walked away with it. They came out on top against the Chatham Cavaliers by a score of 49-40 on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Knights as they're now sitting on six straight.

When it comes to explaining why Chatham lost, don't look at Sydney Ward. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. What's more, Ward also posted a 64% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2023. Jakiyah Giggetts was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

James River's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-3. As for Chatham, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 19-5 record.

James River has already played their next matchup, a 71-55 loss against Liberty on the 28th. Chatham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
