Baseball Recap: Santa Maria's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Santa Maria put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Valley Christian Academy Lions 14-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Saints also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Julius Medina was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Santa Maria let Dominic Martin and Jordan Medina run wild. Martin scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Medina went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Francisco Chavez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Santa Maria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .176.

Santa Maria pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Valley Christian Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Maria will host Morro Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valley Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Orcutt Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
