Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Berkeley Prep

Berkeley Prep proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 12) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Wesley Chapel Wildcats 2-1. The victory was nothing new for the Buccaneers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Rivers Kurland tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Josh Herrmann was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Berkeley Prep pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Wesley Chapel, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berkeley Prep will square off against Trinity Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Berkeley Prep is facing Trinity Catholic at the right time seeing as Trinity Catholic is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Wesley Chapel will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Sumter at 7:00 p.m. on March 24th.
