Baseball Game Preview: Altus Bulldogs vs. Lawton Wolverines

Altus has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lawton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Altus Bulldogs will square off against the Lawton Wolverines at 4:30 p.m.

On Monday, Altus got the win against Lawton by a conclusive 12-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Griffin Marshall made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Garrett Gribble, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Donovan Naff was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Altus pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lawton, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Altus took their victory against Lawton when the teams last played on Monday by a conclusive 12-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Altus since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
