Softball Recap: West Jessamine Colts vs. Union County Braves

There's no place like home for West Jessamine, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Union County Braves 6-5 on Sunday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Colts as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Michaela Tate made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addi Vahle, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Abigail Myszak also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

West Jessamine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got West Jessamine back to even at 5-5. As for Union County, they dropped their record down to 5-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
