Kings Mountain has gone a perfect 10-0 against Ashbrook recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mountaineers will welcome the Greenwave at 6:00 p.m. Kings Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, Kings Mountain made easy work of Forestview and carried off a 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Mountaineers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Maddie Huffman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 20 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Hailey Dixon-Valez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Anna Wooten, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Ashbrook's offense. They lost 13-0 to North Gaston on Thursday. The Greenwave just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
Ashbrook's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Kings Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
