Recap: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Eaglecrest Raptors
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pine Creek, the Chaparral Wolverines were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Eaglecrest by a score of 57-47. This was payback for Chaparral, who suffered a 44-25 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Chaparral found their leader in underclassman Lauren Thompson, who scored 16 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds. Thompson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reagan Lentell, who scored 14 points.
Despite the loss, Eaglecrest still got an impressive performance from Shyann Farbes, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Jada Bobb was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 13 rebounds.
Chaparral's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Eaglecrest, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
Chaparral will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Regis Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Regis Jesuit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. Eaglecrest is on the road again on Thursday and play against Vista PEAK Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Hopefully Vista PEAK Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five last Friday.
