Baseball Game Preview: Torrey Pines Falcons vs. Rancho Bernardo Broncos

For the second straight game, Torrey Pines will face off against Rancho Bernardo. The Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Torrey Pines is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Torrey Pines fell victim to Rancho Bernardo and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broncos.

For Rancho Bernardo's part, the result came thanks to Caden Dockan's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. Dockan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Rancho Bernardo's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Zacarias, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That stolen base was Zacarias' first of the season.

Rancho Bernardo has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Torrey Pines, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-15.
