Softball Recap: South Summit Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when South Summit and Morgan meet (six straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 11-6. 11 seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Toshlyn Louder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Malia Olson, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Adeline Aste also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: South Summit lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more home runs.

South Summit is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Morgan, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Summit will take on Juab at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Morgan, they will take on Stansbury in a tournament on Saturday.
