Softball Recap: Visitation Comes Up Short

Visitation dropped down to 10-2 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Grantsburg Pirates, falling 6-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Blazers were not able to get on the board.

As for Grantsburg, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

For Grantsburg's part, the result came thanks to Piper Olson's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks. Olson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ruby Rengo was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Hansen, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Visitation will host DeLaSalle at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Islanders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.43 runs per game on average), something the Blazers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Grantsburg, they will be playing at home against Shell Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
