Baseball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Serra Catholic's Winning Streak

Serra Catholic dropped their record down to 13-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Bishop Canevin Crusaders by a score of 9-7. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Crusaders earlier this season, when they won 4-1.

Tyler Skaggs made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Matt McNeal was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.

As for Bishop Canevin, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.

On Bishop Canevin's side, Kole Olszewski was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
