Eastern proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Manchester Greyhounds 3-2. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Allie Grooms spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eastern's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maddi Simpson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Izzy Spires also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Eastern's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Manchester, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2.

Looking ahead, Eastern will challenge North Adams at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors are facing the Green Devils at the right time seeing as the Green Devils are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Manchester, they will welcome Glenwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 24.25 runs per game on average), something the Greyhounds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
