Recap: Soroco Rams vs. Rangely Panthers
The Soroco Rams lost against the Rangely Panthers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Soroco was dealt a 58-24 loss at the hands of Rangely. While losing is never fun, Soroco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Rangely is ranked 54th).
Rachelle Dudley and Alyvia Cox certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Dudley scored eight points along with ten rebounds, while Cox scored no points. Dudley has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
Rangely's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miah Wren, who scored 15 points along with nine steals. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for her. Ashlynn Ducey was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five steals.
Soroco's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Rangely, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Soroco will take on Vail Christian at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rangely and Plateau Valley will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Plateau Valley's defense has only allowed 20.3 points per game this season, so Rangely's offense will have their work cut out for Rangely.
