Basketball Recap: Ethan Luck's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lyons over Sacred Heart

If Lyons was feeling good fresh off their 73-32 takedown of Sedgwick last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lyons Lions took a 70-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sacred Heart Knights on Friday.

Lyons' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Luck, who went 7 of 13 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Xavier Solis, who posted 13 points along with five rebounds and five blocks.

Even though they lost, Lyons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Lyons' loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Sacred Heart, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1-1.

Lyons will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Beloit at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Beloit has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 212 points over their last three games. Sacred Heart will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Minneapolis on January 3, 2025.
