Volleyball Recap: Ridgeland Takes a Loss

Ridgeland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Southeast Whitfield County Raiders. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Ridgeland sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-20, 23-25, 15-12.

Despite the defeat, Ridgeland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jordin Duran had nine digs and three assists.

Ridgeland's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Southeast Whitfield County, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgeland will venture away from home to challenge Adairsville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Panthers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Southeast Whitfield County, they will head out to face off against Ringgold at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight.
