The Southeastern Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Ranburne Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeastern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
15 must be Southeastern's lucky number: they beat Vincent with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Mustangs beat the Yellow Jackets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 15-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Liliana Cassidy was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Moon, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Southeastern hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ranburne, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They skirted past Weaver 6-4.
Ranburne also got a great performance from Ava Jackson as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, Rylie Duke was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Carter Martin also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Southeastern's record now sits at 14-10. As for Ranburne, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southeastern hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Ranburne struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southeastern was able to grind out a solid win over Ranburne in their previous meeting back in March, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
