Baseball Preview: Scranton Prep Cavaliers vs. Honesdale Hornets
The Scranton Prep Cavaliers will head out to face off against the Honesdale Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Things were looking good for Scranton Prep after they put the first points on the board two weeks ago, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Pocono Mountain East by a score of 7-6.
AJ Croom was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Raphael Thomas, who scored two runs and stole two bases.
Meanwhile, Honesdale didn't have quite enough to beat Wallenpaupack Area on Saturday and fell 6-5. The loss put an end to the Hornets' undefeated start to the season.
Honesdale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Corso, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Scranton Prep now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Honesdale, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Scranton Prep skirted past Honesdale 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Scranton Prep since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
