St. Anne posted their closest victory since March 17th on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Peotone Blue Devils, sneaking past 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Carter Ponton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, St. Anne saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Harrington-DeWitt, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Ben Harpster also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

St. Anne's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Peotone, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Coming up, St. Anne will head out on the road to square off against Kankakee at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Peotone, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Chicago Christian at 11:00 a.m.
