Baseball Recap: Hannibal Takes a Loss

Hannibal fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Onondaga on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 9-5 to the Tigers. The Warriors just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Alex Miller put in work no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Hannibal's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Miller was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Donald MacFarland, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Lance Sanford also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Hannibal's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Onondaga, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.

Hannibal has already played their next contest (against Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Onondaga, they will face off against Port Byron at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
