Basketball Recap: Malden Catholic Beats Milford for Their 13th Straight Win

With a playoff win on the line, Malden Catholic rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They beat the Milford Scarlet Hawks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 83-59. The Lancers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 21 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Milford still got an impressive performance from Andrew Rivera, who posted 22 points along with eight assists and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Gus Coutinho, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 17 rebounds.

The win (which was Malden Catholic's 13th in a row) raised their record to 22-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.2 points over those games. As for Milford, they dropped their record down to 12-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Malden Catholic will welcome Doherty Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Malden Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matches -- so hopefully Doherty Memorial likes a good challenge. Milford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
