It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Doral Academy had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Flanagan Falcons a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Aaron Elissalt looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gabriel Milano, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and two doubles. Those eight RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobe Carrion, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Doral Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flanagan only posted an OBP of .067.

The win (which was Doral Academy's sixth in a row) raised their record to 24-5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Flanagan, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-18.

As of now, neither Doral Academy nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
