Recap: Northeastern Eagles vs. First Flight Nighthawks
The Northeastern Eagles's game on Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They claimed a resounding 82-46 victory over First Flight at home. With Northeastern ahead 41-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Tyell Saunders had a dynamite game for Northeastern, scoring 22 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Saunders is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jayden Alexander was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, First Flight still got an impressive performance from Mason Dobie, who scored 12 points. Dobie scored a full 26.1% of First Flight's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brayton Heath, who scored seven points.
Northeastern now has a winning record of 2-1. As for First Flight, they bumped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Northeastern will square off against Farmville Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Farmville Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Northeastern likes a good challenge. First Flight will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wheatmore at 3:30 p.m. on December 28th.
