Basketball Game Preview: Churchill Bulldogs vs. Walter Johnson Wildcats

The Churchill Bulldogs will take on the Walter Johnson Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Churchill is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maryland's top teams: Bethesda-Chevy Chase, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Churchill was ranked 20th). Churchill fell 56-44 to Bethesda-Chevy Chase on Friday. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Walter Johnson). They breezed by Northwood to the tune of 89-2 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Walter Johnson's win came from a few key players Churchill will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Emily Proger, who posted nine points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Naamiah Corke, who put up nine points and three steals.

Walter Johnson's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Churchill, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Churchill didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Walter Johnson when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 47-42 win. Will Churchill repeat their success, or does Walter Johnson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
