Softball Recap: Creekside Seminoles vs. Drew
Creekside waltzed into their contest on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Drew a 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Seminoles, who have now won 12 games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Dallas Hill made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Hill was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with a home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Creekside got a big performance out of Deja Wesley, who scored a run and stole three bases. Another player making a difference was Dazire Randle Randle, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Creekside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .862. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a OBP of .500 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Creekside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Drew, they are on a 45-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-21.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Creekside will take on M.L. King at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Creekside is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Drew, they will challenge Pace Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Pace Academy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last ten contests.
