Softball Recap: Mission College Prep Royals vs. Shafter Generals

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mission College Prep had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Shafter Generals. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mission College Prep.

Roxanne Guerra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 13 consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Brooklyn Neenan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Landrie Hinrichs was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

On Shafter's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Pugh, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, and a run.

Mission College Prep is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8-1 record this season. As for Shafter, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-12.
