Baseball Game Preview: Montgomery Aztecs vs. Eastlake Titans

Montgomery is 2-8 against Eastlake since June of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Aztecs are taking a road trip to take on the Titans at 3:30 p.m.

Montgomery is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bonita Vista.

Montgomery saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juanluis Garcia, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eastlake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past San Ysidro 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted since March 19th.

Max Tello looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Eastlake hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Ysidro struck out seven times.

Eastlake is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Montgomery suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Eastlake in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Aztecs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
