Basketball Recap: Tse' Yi' Gai Comes Up Short at Home Against Cimarron

Tse' Yi' Gai unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Cimarron Rams by a score of 34-31 on Thursday. The Dine Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Tse' Yi' Gai saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tayler Begay posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiyana Trujillo, who scored eight points.

The win got Cimarron back to even at 1-1.

Tse' Yi' Gai wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 45-39 victory against Cottonwood Classical Prep on the 6th. As for Cimarron, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-41 win against Santa Rosa on the 6th.
