Softball Game Preview: Eastern Alamance Eagles vs. Bunker Hill Bears

The Eastern Alamance Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Bunker Hill Bears at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eastern Alamance is headed out to face Bunker Hill after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Eastern Alamance came out on top in a nail-biter against Roxboro Community on Thursday, sneaking past 5-3.

Delani Straughan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Olivia Foster was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Hester, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Bunker Hill got the win against St. Stephens on Friday by a conclusive 10-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Serena Thurman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Thurman was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Stuebe, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
