Baseball Recap: Father Mcgivney Catholic Has No Trouble Against Calhoun

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Father McGivney Catholic had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Calhoun Warriors with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won 27 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Drew Kleinheider, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Omar Avalos, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Father McGivney Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive games.

Father McGivney Catholic's win bumped their record up to 36-3. As for Calhoun, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-7.

Coming up, Father McGivney Catholic will square off against Routt Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Griffins 2, the Rockets 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Calhoun does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
