Football Recap: Dunnellon Takes Down Andrew Jackson in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dunnellon had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They took down Andrew Jackson 40-24. Dunnellon's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dunnellon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Curry, who rushed for 66 yards and two TDs on only nine carries, and also threw for 71 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing touchdowns Curry has posted since back in September of 2024. Tony Tanner was in the mix too, providing Dunnellon with two scores.

Dunnellon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kameron Hollins and Kameron Wheeler.

Despite the loss, Andrew Jackson still got an impressive performance from Lamar Stanfield, who threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 88 yards on only 12 carries.

The win made it two in a row for Dunnellon and bumps their season record up to 6-6. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points over those games. As for Andrew Jackson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Dunnellon will square off against Palatka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Andrew Jackson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
