Softball Recap: Newsome Wins Going Away Against Alonso

Newsome had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Alonso Ravens with a sharp 9-2 win on Tuesday. Considering the Wolves have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Allyson Conner tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Arriana N Williams, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ashley Nordberg, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Newsome hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matches.

Newsome's record is now 20-5. As for Alonso, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Looking ahead, Newsome will take on Sumner at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alonso does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
