Basketball Game Preview: Belmont Bison vs. Dunbar Wolverines

Belmont is 1-9 against Dunbar since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Belmont Bison are taking a road trip to take on the Dunbar Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Belmont is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Trotwood-Madison on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Belmont was outmatched by Trotwood-Madison and fell 72-41. The Bison were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-19.

Meanwhile, Dunbar came up short against Harvest Prep on Saturday and fell 69-62. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Warriors are ranked 110th).

Dunbar has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Belmont, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Things could have been worse for Belmont, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-42 loss to Dunbar in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Belmont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
