Basketball Game Preview: New Life Camp Storm vs. Southeastern HomeSchool Cardinals

New Life Camp and Southeastern HomeSchool are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The New Life Camp Storm will host the Southeastern HomeSchool Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

New Life Camp is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Faith HomeSchool 87-43 on Tuesday. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Storm had established a 27 point advantage.

Meanwhile, Southeastern HomeSchool earned a 66-53 victory over Southeastern Christian Academy on Tuesday. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Warriors are ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southeastern HomeSchool's win came from a few key players New Life Camp will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Blake Batts, who went 6 of 13 en route to 17 points and five assists. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Rayne Schoonmaker, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points.

Southeastern HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Southeastern HomeSchool's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for New Life Camp, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.

Things could have been worse for New Life Camp, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-46 loss to Southeastern HomeSchool when the teams last played on Friday.
