Softball Recap: Preston Gets the Win

Preston hadn't done well against Buckhannon-Upshur recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Preston won by a run and slipped past Buckhannon-Upshur 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Mckenzie Price was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Price was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Rhylinn Sanders was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hannah Liston, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

The win got Preston back to even at 1-1. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Preston will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Southern at 5:30 p.m. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, they will head out to challenge North Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
